Volume 21, Issue #25, June 30th, 2019
We had a wonderful evening in Old Prestancia Subdivision in Chatham at the home of Rotarian couple Derek & Kelley Robertson. My apologies that I didn't get pictures of everyone attending (Rotarian Terra Kitzul-Arens & her husband Mike, President Elect Kate doForno, Youth Exchange Extraordinaire Mary-Fran Kluka and Jayson Illsevic & his partner Megan). Pictured from left to right are: 1) Mark Peacock, John & Lorna Lawrence, and Honourary Member Paul Roy; 2) President Kelley Robertson, Rotarian Margaret Schleier-Stahl and Kelley's dog Bruce; 3) Margaret Campbell & her partner Doug; 4) Youth Exchange Duo Ken (President Nominee) & Sue Bechard; 4) Margaret Schleier-Stahl & her partner Jim; 5) "Chef" Derek Robertson; 6) Lila & Blake Kitzul-Arens; 7) Former Rotarian Toni Martin, Sheila Bateman, Ron Coristine, PDG Barry Fraser, & Derek Robertson; 8) Past President Roger & Gloria McRae

In previous Rotary tradition, Kelley would have been presented with a Past President pin and a gift, but since she was a former Past President with our sister club, The Rotary Club of Chatham, Roger McRae elected to donate money to PAWR, our local animal shelter. Kelley currently sits on their board of directors and Bruce (pictured above) was adopted there. The money donated will go to the creation of raised gardening beds to grow food for rescued rabbits. At the announcement of the money being donated in Kelley's honour, her dogs took off in excitement, barking around the yard.

Thank you to Kelley & Derek for being our gracious hosts, and for their delicious food. Chatham's best burger may just be made at the hands of Derek Robertson!

Just a reminder that because of Canada Day, we will not be meeting next Tuesday.

Important Update: The first bus is now full, but a second bus from Target is now being tentatively planned. There are still tickets available!
Please mark July 20th in your calendars (and in the dust!). We will be selling 50/50 tickets from 5-9pm, and require 6 volunteers. Please contact Rotarian John Schinkel if interested.
