Volume 21, Issue #22, June 9th, 2019
Good afternoon fellow Rotarians! It's hard to believe for the first time in many weekends, we haven't had any rain. Although many of us will be inspired by water later on this week, when we gather at the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority offices on Tuesday night for Greening Your Grounds.
Kudos to fellow Rotarian Ken Bechard for all his hardwork on the last official District 6380 Youth Exchange training session for our outbound students. Thank you to all the Rotarians (Ron Coristine, Sheila Bateman, Betty Manso, & Linda Goldsmith) who brought food by the Sun Life Financial office on Friday to feed the exchange students on Saturday (and made me hungry, especially Linda's Maple City Bakery squares!).
This week, we will be hosting Chatham-Kent Prosperity Roundtable representative, Philip Mock. Due to a combination of things, I was unable to interview Phillip this week. I was able to find a great article highlighting Living Wage Week last fall, which is one of the initiatives the Roundtable supports. Click here to read the article.
Last Friday (June 7th) Rotarian John Lawrence received the 2018 Ontario Senior of the Year Award at Blenheim Arena. John is pictured with left to right, MPP Dave vanKesteren, MP Rick Nicholls, and Chatham-Kent Mayor & Sunrise Rotarian Darrin Canniff. (Photo credit to Rotarian Betty Manso, who also fought on John's behalf to reinstate the award after the provincial government rescinded it due to funding).

Batter up Rotarians, as Sparky takes us out to the ball game. Join our American Rotarian family to the southwest as our beloved Jays take on the Tigers. Contact Sunrise Rotarian Doug Goldsmith for your seat on the bus if you wish to travel with other Rotarians across the border. Purchase your game ticket here
Under the B, BINGO!! Ahh yes, it's new bingo schedule time again. Please e-mail Doug Goldsmith if you're interested in signing up for any of the time slots.
